Restaurant owners say financial aid is only one part of what they need from government to help them recover from the pandemic.

Restaurants are seeing higher capacity limits and more customers, but many owners say they're having problems hiring workers to meet the increasing business.

Zachary Dolezal, who owns Duke's Ale House and Kitchen in Crystal Lake, said that's largely because many potential workers are still concerned about contacting COVID-19 on the job.

“We do have employees who aren’t coming back to work because they have either older parents or higher-risk situations in their households, so they’re much more hesitant to come back until their household’s been vaccinated,” he told WBBM Newsradio on Friday.

He and other restaurant owners say they believe they could convince more people to work for them if restaurant workers were given higher priority for COVID vaccinations.
