(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Following Labor Day, commuters on DuSable Lake Shore Drive need to be aware of closures taking place on the North Side.
The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) says this week resurfacing work will resume on DuSable Lake Shore Drive (DLSD) between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood Avenues.
Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 3, the work will require temporary lane closures.
Tuesday night, starting at 7 p.m., northbound Lake Shore Drive will be reduced to two lanes, between Hollywood and Lawrence Avenues. At 9 p.m., all of the lanes will be closed.
CDOT says northbound exit ramps at Foster and Bryn Mawr will be closed. Additionally, the northbound entrance ramps at Lawrence, Foster and Bryn Mawr will also close.
All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Wednesday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., both northbound and southbound DLSD will be down to two lanes, between Hollywood and Foster. The northbound exit ramp will be shut down at Bryn Mawr and the northbound entrance will be closed at Lawrence. The southbound entrance ramps will be blocked at Hollywood and Bryn Mawr.
At 9 p.m. Wednesday, all lanes of DLSD, in both directions, will be closed between Hollywood and Lawrence. Traffic will be detoured to Sheridan Road and Lawrence Avenue, CDOT says. All lanes are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Thursday.
Thursday, Sept. 5 will mark the final day of significant road work for the week on DLSD. At 7 p.m., the southbound side of DLSD, between Hollywood and Lawrence, will be down to two lanes. The southbound entrance ramps will be closed at Hollywood, Bryn Mawr and Foster. The southbound exit ramp at Lawrence will also be closed. Starting at 9 p.m., all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be shut down, between Hollywood and Lawrence. Traffic will once again be detoured to Sheridan and Lawrence.
All lanes should open back up at 6 a.m. Friday.
CDOT suggests drivers plan ahead during these closures.
The entire resurfacing project is slated to be finished by late October.
