CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A retired Chicago firefighter was arrested Tuesday for his role in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Court documents show law enforcement found several connections between Joseph Pavlik and anti-government militia groups - including that his phone number was on a roster of Oath Keepers. An FBI special agent said the 65-year-old wrote on social media two weeks before the attack “We need to be much more brutal than punching and kicking. This is not some simple street disagreement.”
The criminal complaint said Pavlik and other members of a group called the ‘B Squad’ attempted to push through a police line into the Capitol. The government shared photos it says are of Pavlik wearing a gas mask and a vest that said ‘when tyranny becomes law… rebellion becomes duty."
