CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago reopened one of its most well-known attractions, the Bean, after a 10-month-long closure on Sunday.
Anish Kapoor’s “Cloud Gate” — more commonly known as the Bean — has been off limits to visitors and residents since August 2023. That’s when city crews began work on the surrounding Grainger Plaza.
The Bean was completely gated off as plaza work took place, which left visitors standing atop benches and barriers to catch even a glimpse of the famous structure.
In a statement, the city said work on the plaza included new stairs, accessible ramps, paver replacement, a waterproofing system and accessibility upgrades.
Millennium Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
