(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Republican Congressman from Texas found himself being challenged this week at a suburban political fundraiser when he disagreed with an attendee who insisted the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump.
A report in The Daily Beast said Rep. Dan Crenshaw was speaking at an Illinois GOP fundraising dinner in Rosemont Wednesday when the hot-button topic was raised by someone in the crowd.
“You’re kidding yourself,” Crenshaw said in response to claims that several swing states fraudulently went Democrat Joe Biden’s way.
The ensuing exchange — between Creshaw and Republican Senate hopeful Bobby Piton, reports said — has been trending on Twitter. Critics said it’s an example of how Crenshaw, a Republican member of Congress who supported an earlier effort to challenge the 2020 election results, must now deal with a divisive conspiracy theory his party helped create.
