CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The entrance to a River North business was badly damaged during an attempt to steal an ATM Thursday morning.
It happened shortly after 6 a.m., said Chicago police, when an SUV crashed through the Galleria Market on the corner of West Superior and North Orleans Streets.
They tried to take the ATM machine, but were unsuccessful. Police said the would-be thieves got back into the SUV and sped away, along with other vehicles that were believed to have been involved.
The time was unusual for this type of crime. Typically, officials said these things occur in the middle of the night.
Those involved were not caught.
