ROCKFORD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A U.S. Army special forces member charged with killing three people and wounding three others in a Rockford bowling alley this weekend is due in court Monday afternoon.

There were about 25 people inside the upstairs bar at Don Carter Lanes Saturday night when Duke Webb allegedly began shooting.

Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea said police believe the 37-year-old did not know any of his victims and was shooting at random.

O’Shea said officers responded within a minute of 911 calls and heard shots.

They arrested Webb without firing their weapons and despite his attempts to hide his identity and two handguns that were recovered.

O’Shea did not offer any motive for the shooting, which was caught on surveillance video.

Webb faces murder and attempted murder charges.

O'Shea did not provide the names of the three victims who died but said they were all men, aged 73, 65 and 69.

The wounded includes a 14-year-old boy who was shot in the face and airlifted to a hospital; a 16-year-old girl who was shot in the shoulder; and a 62-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is in critical condition, the chief said.

The Army said Webb was on leave from Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, where he’s an assistant operations and intelligence sergeant in the Special Forces.
