(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A promotion earlier this week from the pizza chain Rosati’s was such a hit that its CEO is apologizing.
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, numerous Rosati's locations offered a special price on a two-topping, 14-inch pizza. The pizzas were sold for $3.50 — the same price they went for in 1964, when the chain was founded.
Unsurprisingly, customers ate up the promotion, but it did lead to some issues.
Some on social media claimed locations that were supposed to be participating decided not to take part in the effort. Other locations ran out pizzas despite orders being placed. Others complained that none of the participating locations were in Chicago.
In response, Rosati’s CEO Jeff Rosati has issued a statement to Channel 9, in which he thanked customers for the outpouring of support. He also apologized to those who did not get their pizza and promised to reach out in order to “make good on their promise.”
