(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The cow that escaped after being used as part of a school prank in northwest suburban Niles is chilling out in a northern Illinois sanctuary.
“She’s actually doing very good,” says Cynthia Glensgard, executive director of the Hooved Animal Humane Society in Woodstock. “Our staff is in love with her. She’s adorable.”
The animal is making friends with horses on the other side of a fence, she said.
The cow was taken to the organization after it galloped through part of Niles, following a school prank gone awry. Glensgard said despite the humor of it all, letting the animal loose in an urban setting was a very serious situation.
Now, the Humane Society is holding a naming contest as part of a fundraiser before the cow finds its forever home. Among the suggestions: Footloose, Freedom and Moodini, a riff on the famous escape artist Harry Houdini.
