Runners learn if they will be racing in the next Chicago Marathon

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — It's a big day for those who applied to race in next year's Chicago Marathon.

Check your email, you could be one of the lucky thousands to make it into next year's Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

The race is letting people know today through their email if they've made it into next year's field. More than 160,000 people applied and over 53,000 are expected to compete.

The record was set this year when over 50,000 finished

Next year's race, the 47th running, is Oct. 12, 2025. Runners who don't get in can enter the Chicago Marathon via the official charity program and pledge to raise at least $2,100.

New logos have also been released for all the Bank of America Chicago Distance Series events. This year, 2,700 completed all three of the events in the series, which are the Shamrock Shuffle 8K Run, Chicago 13.1 and Chicago Marathon. The events had 81,000 total finishers.

“When we started the Series in 2023, our goal was to celebrate the Chicago running community, from individuals discovering the sport for the first time to our longtime participants,” said Executive Race Director Carey Pinkowski in a press release.

“We continue to be humbled by the running community’s enthusiasm and embrace of the events and we’re excited to launch a new look that celebrates Chicago and the spirit of each race.”
