(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Arlington Heights school districts launched a website this week to track the debate over the Chicago Bears' potential move to the northwest suburb.
This comes ahead of a District 214 School Board in which the issue was expected to be discussed.
The Bears acquired the former Arlington International Racecourse site for a potential new stadium. Suburbanstadium.org offers information about taxes, timelines and other information about the project.
That includes this observation – that economists have found much of the revenue new stadiums generate does not stay local.
The website that was created by school districts 15, 211 and 214, whose boundaries include the former racetrack.
They say it's designed to educate residents, business owners and Bears fans. The districts say they welcome the team under terms it deems "fair to all."
They want the Bears to pay $7.9 million a year in property taxes, while the team has proposed $4.3 million. The Bears are appealing a reassessment that would put the bill at $16 million.
