(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Following the collapse of a classroom ceiling Wednesday night at the central campus of Lockport Township High School, the superintendent has provided an update on what happens next.
No one was in the third-floor classroom when plaster fell from the ceiling at the high school's central campus, which has classes for freshmen students.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors attend the high school's east campus.
Dr. Robert McBride, the superintendent of District 205, said freshmen will have remote classes until the central campus gets a complete safety inspection.
"The reason for that is we would want to give forensic architects enough time to completely access every aspect of the building," he added.
McBride said he hopes to decide by Thursday whether to allow students to return to the central campus, or if the freshmen will start taking classes at the east campus.
He said the east campus doesn't have enough room for all of those students, so class schedules would have to be adjusted.
