Purdue University researchers have paused their plans to search for Amelia Earhart's missing plane. The team expected to begin the search on November 4th, but the permit approval process is forcing the delay.
The expedition will look for Earhart's plane on Nikumaroro Island in the South Pacific. Crews say they've discovered a visual anomaly in satellite images of a lagoon on the island. They believe it might be the remains of Earhart's Lockheed Electra 10-E.
Researchers are hopeful they can begin the expedition in early 2026. Earhart's plane disappeared as she attempted to become the first woman to circumnavigate the world.
