CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A security guard was injured near the set of NBC’s Chicago Fire Thursday.

The security guard, reported to be a retired CPD officer, was hit by an ATV where filming was taking place near the Fire Academy.

There were reportedly two ATV’s and two minibikes circling the empty lot where the filming was taking place on the 500 block of West Taylor Street at about 5:30 p.m., according to various reports.

Security guards prevented them from getting onto the set.

At some point, one was hit by an ATV and the rider dropped a handgun, abandoned the ATV and got onto the second one and they all sped away.

The guard was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
