(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — It was just after 3:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day when Emily Ortman gave birth to Ocean Ortman at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in suburban Park Ridge.
At 5 pounds, 2.4 ounces and 18.75 inches, baby Ocean — born to Emily and Wes Ortman — was among the first newborns to come into the world at Chicago-area hospitals. The Ortmans call Wheeling home.
A little less than two hours later in Oak Lawn, Rue was born to parents Kiara and Robert Rhodes at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Rue, who weighed slightly more than 4.5 pounds and was 17 inches tall, will join two older brothers and their parents at home in Crete.

Photos shared by Advocate Health Care showed Ocean and Rue taking some of their first breaths in the world.
Elsewhere, at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Pearl Noelle Hodge was born at 5:28 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 5 ounces with a height of 19.5 inches.
She was the third child born to Andrea Cladis-Hodge and Matthew Hodge, whose first child was born on New Year’s Eve.

Dr. Peter Cladis, Cladis-Hodge’s father, has been a physician at Delnor Hospital for more than 40 years, officials said.
This story will be updated to highlight more newborns as WBBM receives the updates.
