Separate late night expressway shootings leave 1 dead, ISP says

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Illinois State Police are investigating two expressway shootings, one occurring late Sunday night and the other early Monday morning.

The first happened on the Stevenson Expressway  just before 10:30 p.m.

ISP said a person was hit by gunfire in the northbound lanes of I-55 near the ramp to DuSable Lake Shore Drive. They were taken to a nearby hospital but later died.

Just a couple hours later, a shooting was reported on the outbound Dan Ryan Expressway,  at 95th Street, at around 12:30 a.m.

No one was hurt but I-94 remained closed for several hours.

Both expressways were back open by 3:00 a.m.

The shootings remain under investigation.
