CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Chicago area has been dealing with stormy weather this morning.

Most area counties were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning from the National Weather Service (NWS) earlier in the morning.

From the far northern suburbs to areas south, these storms carried strong winds and brought heavy rain.

The remnants of this storm front are making their way through the southern suburbs and is expected to vacate by mid-morning.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 11 a.m. for all local counties.

The storms have impacted local air travel.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) previously issued a ground stop at both O'Hare International Airport Midway Airport. For an extended period, all inbound and outbound flights were on hold.

One hundred and thirty-nine flights have been cancelled at O'Hare, with delays averaging one hour and 13 minutes. At Midway, flights are delayed by an average of 48 minutes.
