(WBBM NEWSRADIO) —COVID-19 is still with us, but one summertime amusement park hopes to provide all the thrills with a lot of safety thrown in.
Six Flags Great America is targeting April 24 as opening day for its 2021 season, if state officials approve, and May 29 to open its two Hurricane Harbor water parks in Gurnee and Rockford.
Communications and Marketing Manager Caitlin Kepple says Six Flags is looking to hire 4,000 seasonal workers, too.
”We have a little something for everyone. We have ride operators. We have lifeguards. We have food and beverage team members. We also have ‘clean team’ members,” she said Friday.
The parks are looking for everyone from teenagers looking for summer jobs to retirees who want to stay engaged in the community.
Six Flags is still working with the state on COVID safety guidelines that include cleaning protocols for rides, Kepple said.
People will only be seated with the people they came with. Guests and workers will also all be required to wear masks and physically distance in the 300-acre theme park, she said.
Kepple says there will be plenty of hand sanitizers throughout the parks and limited capacity in retail locations.
People interested in the seasonal jobs may apply at sixflagsjobs.com. Pay starts at $11 per hour.
