NEW YORK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - How did Sky rookie forward Angel Reese celebrate her 22nd birthday? She squeezed in a trip to New York and attended the 2024 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Talk about a full day, hours earlier Monday in Chicago, Reese took part in a training camp practice.
She arrived in time Monday night for the Met Gala red carpet and was seen sporting a custom mint green 16Arlington dress, designed by Marco Capaldo.
According to the Athletic, Reese was likely the first WNBA rookie to be invited and then go to the A-list soiree. Other notable athletes at last night’s gala included Basketball Hall of Famer and Chicago native Dwyane Wade, NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs as well as Serena and Venus Williams.
Reese is expected to be back in Chicago tonight and play in the Sky’s lone home preseason game against the New York Liberty. In her preseason debut last Friday against the Minnesota Lynx, she scored 13 points and brought in nine rebounds.
Kamilla Cardoso, the Sky’s other highly touted rookie, also was in the headlines Monday. The team announced she will miss at least the next four to six weeks with a shoulder injury that she suffered in Friday’s game.
