(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The unseasonal snow and ice overnight wreaked havoc on Chicago area and Northwest Indiana roadways during the morning commute.
Northbound and southbound I-394 in Sauk Village was closed between Route 30 and Sauk Trail due to a crash.
The Inbound Edens Expressway was closed for several hours at Old Orchard due to multiple crashes.
Earlier, the Bishop Ford Expressway was shut down at 103rd after multiple semi crashes. That has since reopened. I-80/94 westbound was also closed at the Bishop Ford because of a crash.
Since the freezing temperatures kicked in and snow began to fall Tuesday morning, the Chicago area roads have been quite treacherous.
Last night in Matteson, 16 vehicles were involved in two separate pileup crashes.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WBBM Newsradio for the latest traffic information.
