
NEW LENOX, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A small beechcraft plane made an emergency landing Thursday afternoon onto the Veterans Memorial Tollway near Route 6 in New Lenox.
According to Illinois State Police, the plane landed in the southbound lanes shortly after 11 a.m. because its engine stalled.
The plane originally took off from the Lewis University airport in Romeoville around 11:10 a.m., according to FlightAware. The plane was in the air for about five minutes.
Upon landing, the plane sustained some damage.
Four people aboard - 3 passengers and a pilot - were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The left two lanes going southbound on I-355 are currently shut down for the investigation.
