Keeping a stretch of brick street paving could cost some residents in Hinsdale

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Hinsdale’s village president is encouraging residents who want to keep bricks along a stretch of road to ask voters how they will pay for it.

Jennifer Reenan, who lives along the stretch of Sixth Street, urged leaders this week to take a more long-term look at what she believes is an environmentally worthy project.

But Hinsdale President Tom Cauley said he opposes keeping four blocks of Sixth Street brick when the village reconstructs the road. He invited Reenan to hold a referendum to see if residents would raise the extra $2 million to pay for the work.

The village expects to get more budget details for the project in March, he said.
