Shootout in South Loop Sends Concealed Carry License Holder to Hospital

CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) — A concealed carry license holder was wounded in a shootout early Saturday in the South Loop, according to Chicago police.

The gunfire erupted around 2:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Wabash Avenue. Police said a 35-year-old man was getting out of his car when a vehicle pulled up and two armed suspects got out and opened fire.


The victim, who police said is licensed to carry a firearm, returned fire but was struck in the shoulder. He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.

No other injuries were reported. No arrests have been made, and investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
