CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police are investigating an armed robbery at a CTA bus stop in South Shore Wednesday morning.
A group of people waiting for a bus near 79th and Jeffrey caught the eye of thieves. Police said at around 5:10 a.m. three armed robbers got out of a black car.
One victim, 24-year-old Joshua Wright told CBS-2 the robbery was scary and disruptive.
“They was all ready to go to work and everything, prepared, in uniform, and they took everything they had. People couldn’t go to work today because they got their phones taken [be]cause they got their phones taken [be]cause their Ventra cards [are] on there,” Wright said.
He was able to recover his phone using his Apple watch. He thinks the robbers ditched it once it pinged that it was being tracked.
While it was pretty banged up, he was grateful to reclaim it and his backpack.
