CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man has died in a shooting on the South Side that resulted in a car flipping over with a young boy inside.
Police said the 26-year-old man crashed the car while fleeing the shooting late last night in the Chatham neighborhood.
He was inside a car with the 8-year old just before midnight at a gas station at 87th and State when three people began shooting at them.
As the man tried to get away, he was struck by at least one bullet. The car struck another and flipped near 83rd street.
The 26-year old died at the University of Chicago Medical Center. The young boy was taken to Comer as a precaution and is listed in good condition.
No one in custody.
