CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police have issued an alert about armed robberies and carjackings involving rideshare and food delivery services.

Thursday night, a 44-year-old rideshare driver dropped off two people near 74th and South Wabash. Police said the two then drew weapons and carjacked the vehicle.

Police caught up with them near 92nd and Greenwood after a pursuit. They’re now in custody.

There have been other similar incidents in the city’s Garfield Park neighborhood recently.

Police say the offenders utilize a food delivery or rideshare service to lure victims to their location.

The driver is then robbed, or the vehicle is stolen.

It's not known if last night’s incident on the South Side is related to the others. Police are investigating.
