CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Hundreds of Chicago Housing Authority seniors gathered today on the south side for an annual summer music festival.
The seniors were enjoying themselves at tables under umbrellas and on the dance floor at XS Tennis at 53rd and State.
When asked if this is their version of Lollapalooza, Venus Frazier, Director of Senior Services replied:
“This is better than Lollapalooza. But, yes, this is their version of Lollapalooza.”
Ginny Newsome said she is a veteran of CHA's annual music festival.
“I can’t tell you how many years because then everybody would know my age," she said. “The event is fantabulous.”
Another gentleman attending the event said it was "beautiful." "I love it," he said. The theme for this year was "Hot Fun in the Summertime.”
