CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two shootings occurred within a block of each on the South Side Sunday, killing a man and seriously injuring a teenager.
Chicago Police said a 28-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk at 79th and Drexel in the Chatham neighborhood at about 10:30 p.m. when passengers in a passing gray SUV shot him. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center but later died.
Nearly four hours earlier and just one block south, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the chest while near a sidewalk at 80th and Drexel. The teen was sent to Comer Children's Hospital and initially was reported in serious condition, police said.
No one is in custody in either incident. Area detectives are investigating.
