(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Embattled Dolton mayor and Thornton Township supervisor Tiffany Henyard faces more problems – this time, wrongful-termination lawsuits filed this week in federal court on behalf of three former employees.

Former Thornton Township human resources manager Sandra Tracy; former Dolton administrative assistant Karen Johnson; and former village building permits director Samysha Williams claim they faced retaliation for not doing the political bidding of Henyard and for other reasons.

“We believe that the Village and Township’s actions, under Mayor Henyard’s direction, were unjust, unfair, and unlawful,” Matthew R. Custardo, attorney for the former employees, said in a news release. “Our clients were devoted public servants and they deserved better.  Instead, they were bullied, intimidated, and kicked to the curb. But they’re fighting back.”

Henyard already faces mounting allegations of mismanagement. Dolton village trustees have called for her spending, fundraising and other activities to be investigated.

Henyard has denied wrongdoing.

The lawsuits filed this week seek compensatory damages for lost wages, emotional distress and reputational harm.
