A youth football program in the south suburbs will begin the upcoming season without thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

A GoFundMe posted by the Robbins Eagles youth football and cheer association reads, "someone broke into our storage shed and stole our brand-new football equipment—including helmets and shoulder pads—meant for our youngest teams."

In total, thieves stole around $12,000 worth of equipment.

"That theft was a moral theft, stealing from our kids," says Robbins Chief of Police Terry White. "We have a team in place and we will bring those offenders to justice."

Village officials joined the Eagles Football Program Tuesday to both condemn the theft and unveil the site of the all-new Robbins Eagles Football stadium.

Describing the blue turf, 100-bleacher stadium, Robbins Mayor Darren Bryant said, "the total package, which is the fencing and the lighting, that is scheduled to be completed by November 17th."

The Robbins Eagles were undefeated last year. Their regular season begins August 23rd.
