(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Chester Weger, the man who spent nearly 60 years in prison for the 1960 murder of three suburban women at Starved Rock State Park, is looking to remove the special prosecutor in the case.

Weger is now 84.  He was released on parole on in 2020, but his murder conviction stands.

He’s trying to have it overturned. The Chicago Sun Times reports that his lawyer is looking to remove special prosecutor James Glasgow, the Will County State’s Attorney.

A court filing said Glasgow tried to prevent new testing of evidence that still exists from 1960. Evidence includes hair, twine and cigarette butts.

Attorney Andy Hale said a male hair that does not belong to Weger was found in a glove belonging to one of the victims. Weger maintains his innocence.

He said his confession was coerced with the threat of the electric chair.
