(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A summer tradition many Chicagoans and visitors look forward to is just a few weeks away.
On May 11, a slumbering Buckingham Fountain will once again come to life in Grant Park.
ComEd's traditional "Switch on Summer" event is set to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature performances from Chicago artists, as well as food and other vendors.
Chicago's beloved retired meteorologist Tom Skilling is also scheduled to make an appearance.
Once it's turned on, the fountain will operate daily from 8 a.m.
to 11 p.m. through mid-October, with major water displays shooting water 150 feet into the air starting at 9 a.m.
