
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Substitute teachers at a west suburban school district could be seeing a bump in pay.
An increase in pay for substitute teachers will be on the table at tonight’s school board meeting at St. Charles School District 303. District administrators are floating the idea of a $25 increase- $145 for a full day- from the current $120 a day payment. The proposed pay structure would start on Oct. 15.
The district also is recommending subs who nonconsecutively surpass 30 days of work, would be paid $165 for a full day. That rate would be locked in for two years, the district said.
Substitutes who work a half-day would also receive a raise- $72.50 from $60, according to the proposal. Under the recommendation, the daily rate for long-term subs would also go up $20, totally $220 a day, compared to the current pay of $200.
