ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Local catholics are warned to "weigh the moral and ethical concerns" before taking the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for COVID-19.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis has released a statement calling the new vaccine "morally compromised" because it was "derived from an aborted child."

Earlier the church also warned Catholics against taking the Astra Zeneca vaccine for the same reason.

The Archdiocese recommends Catholics take either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, but the statement goes on to say that Catholics "may receive the inoculation in good conscience if no other alternative is available."
