CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Some public-sector unions in Illinois are taking issue with vaccine requirements announced this week by the governor and secretary of state.
The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge and the Secretary of State FOP Lodge 95 accuse Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Secretary of State Jesse White of “vaccine shaming.”
The Chicago Sun-Times reported Terry Trueblood, president of Lodge 95, said the state should instead do a better job of convincing all its residents to choose to take the vaccine.”
The head of the union representing officers at the state’s prisons said their opposition is not to the vaccine but being forced to take it. The governor mandated shots for state employees who work in all congregate settings.
Secretary of state employees must get tested every two weeks if they don’t get vaccinated.
