CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health Saturday announced another 2,121 new cases of coronavirus and 22 new confirmed deaths.
Fifteen of the deaths were in Cook County, including a man in his 30s and a man in his 40s.
The state also reported 56,000 tests completed in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tests to 4,688,976 statewide.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases from Sept. 5 – Sept. 12 is 3.7%. Chicago is still seeing a 5% rolling positivity rate and an average of 311 new cases are being reported, according to the Chicago Department of Public Health.
As Friday night, 1,509 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19 and 344 of those patients were in the ICU and 170 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
The state has now seen 259,909 cases and 8,295 deaths.
