(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A steelworker who was injured last week in a workplace accident in Northwest Indiana has died.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said 44-year old Michael Osika of Schererville died Saturday afternoon at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
He was injured Thursday at the Cleveland-Cliffs Indiana Harbor steel mill in East Chicago. according to officials. A company spokeswoman said Osika was doing routine repair in the ladle maintenance area when he was injured.
The cause and manner of death are pending a number of investigations.
