Stellantis pulls out of Chicago Auto Show

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A major automaker has pulled out of this year’s Chicago Auto Show.

Stellantis, maker of vehicles under the brands Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Alpha Romeo and Maserati, will not be taking part in this year’s Chicago Auto Show, opening Feb. 10.

Jennifer Morand, the auto show’s general manager and president of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association, said Stellantis is cutting costs following the UAW strike.

In the past, Stellantis brands took up nearly 10 percent of the exhibit space.

“Their products were about 90,000 square feet of exhibit space, and just to give you a sense, our show is typically about a million square feet,” Morand said.

She hopes Stellantis vehicles are back for next year.

Mazda is back at the auto show, and the event will have a new exhibitor, EV maker Lucid Motors, Morand said.

The Chicago Auto Show runs through Feb. 19. More than 300,000 people attended last year’s show, and attendance is expected to surpass that in 2024.
