CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The city of Chicago’s fleet of street sweepers officially returned to duty on Monday, the Department of Streets and Sanitation announced.

Street sweeping season came back on April Fool’s Day, but it's arrival is a serious one for those who park overnight on Chicago streets. From Monday through November, Chicagoans will need to be on the lookout for temporary parking restrictions.

City officials said residents should check their blocks for signs that outline when those temporary parking restrictions will take effect.

Signs are posted two days before street sweepers arrive, though some blocks do have permanent signage.

An up-to-date street sweeping schedule may be found online or by calling 311.

Street sweeping takes place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
