
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A student was shot and killed after a high school football game in the southwest suburbs Friday night.
Shots were fired around 9 p.m. near Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills following the school’s varsity football team’s Homecoming game against Oak Forest.
The boy who died was identified as 14-year-old Marshawn Mitchell of Hazel Crest.
Hillcrest High School issued a statement confirming the shooting took place after the game concluded.
“We in District 228 are committed to the safety and overall well-being of our students and staff. The District will have supporting resources available on Monday for anyone who may need them,” the statement said.
