(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago's only car museum is being transformed into a teaching experience for young Chicagoans interested in science, technology, engineering and math.

Klairmont Kollections Automotive Museum at Barry and Knox on the northwest side is offering schools $30,000 in educational field trips.

Robert Olson, president of the museum, says every classic car tells a story.

“The cars themselves have driven us into the future, and they are the vessels of all of our ideas – sometimes our hopes, our dreams – that’s reflected in the design of the vehicle,” he said.

The museum has hosted about 20 groups so far.

The nonprofit museum is using the fund to help pay for students and teachers to visit and experience Chicago’s one-of-a-kind auto showcase and the generations of automotive art, engineering and science under the hoods.
