(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A suburban school district voted Wednesday to settle a lawsuit that alleged hazing and the sexual assault of two students.
The alleged incidents were said to have taken place in October of 2019 at Plainfield Central High School.
According to the federal lawsuit, two freshmen on the football team were surrounded by older team members who pinned them to the ground and sexually assaulted them with a broomstick.
The lawsuit, which named Plainfield Community Consolidated school District 202 and three coaches as defendants, claimed the hazing was a, “common behavior and some coaches knew about it.”
The Board of Education voted 6 to 0 to approve this settlement, but did not disclose any details of the agreement.
