(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The teachers strike at Proviso High School District 209 is over.

Board of Education President Rodney Alexander announced Thursday that a tentative agreement has been reached with the Proviso Teachers Union for a three-year contract.

Rank-and-file teachers and board members are set to ratify the agreement within the next several days, he said. Details were not released.

Classes and extracurricular activities are expected to resume Monday for the district's more than 4,000 students. Teachers went on strike March 4.
