(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 44-year-old Blue Island man who was charged earlier this week with the murder and kidnapping of a 10-year-old Rockford girl has now been linked to a murder in Schaumburg.
Rockford authorities accused Antonio Monroe, a registered sex offender, of luring 10-year-old Destiny Huggins and her 6-year-old sister into a backyard by promising them money. Police said Monroe then killed the 10-year-old.
This occurred on Saturday. Monroe was arrested nearby, and his charges include first-degree murder and kidnapping.
Whitney Rouse, a friend of the girl’s family, spoke to CBS 23 in Rockford. Rouse described Monroe as “a monster.”
“Just disgusting, and that’s putting it nicely because I can’t say what I want to say,” Rouse told the station.
In court, prosecutors said Monroe is suspected of stealing a car three days earlier in Schaumburg.
That’s where he’s a person of interest in the murder of 24-year-old Natalie Negray, whose body was found in a hotel room last Wednesday.
Police believe he was with her before her death.
His bond was set at $5 million.
