CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The suspected gunman who was arrested Wednesday afternoon for Tuesday's New York City subway shooting has ties to Chicago.
Chicago Police have not confirmed it at this point - but managers at a single-room-occupancy hotel in Uptown say they believe 62-year-old Frank James lived there for almost two years.
The clerk at the front desk of the Aragon Arms Hotel, Leon Washington, said he’s following the news like everybody else. But didn’t suspect a Chicago connection.
“I didn’t know about it until I came in this morning and the regular clerk was here and he says, ‘You know the guy that they’re looking for? He may have been here for a couple of years.’
“And he pulled the card,” Washington said.
And the registration card has the name Frank James at the top - with a record of when he paid his rent for a fourth floor apartment, from April 2015 to March of 2017.
Washington said James was evicted.
