Chicago police SWAT response in South Shore ends after more than 17 hours

A Chicago police SWAT response on the city’s South Side ended late Sunday after stretching more than 17 hours, authorities said.

CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – A Chicago police SWAT response on the city’s South Side ended late Sunday after stretching more than 17 hours, authorities said.

Police were called around 5:02 a.m. Sunday to the 2700 block of East 76th Street in the South Shore neighborhood. Officers remained on scene throughout the day as SWAT units responded.

The incident concluded at about 10:26 p.m., when a 45-year-old man was taken into custody without incident, police said. He was transported to Christ Hospital for observation and was listed in good condition.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities have not released details about what led to the SWAT response. Area Two detectives are investigating, and no additional information was immediately available.
