CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago got lucky as the sun poured over downtown to celebrate with thousands who attended the 64th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.
The crowded scene had two entry checkpoints and several police officers who guarded the parade route, unlike other years that were easier to access, said parade-goers. With many officers on the ground and in the water with CPD's Marine Unit, law enforcement and local officials made sure the city was safe and people had fun.

"On days like this you can expect anything," Johnson said. "People are out here having fun, which is making me happier."
