CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Taylor Swift fans, or "Swifties," are out in River North this week as they work to decode a mysterious mural the artist is having painted ahead of her new album.

When a cryptic Taylor Swift mural started appearing in River North, Chicago Swifties knew they had a mission.

Jess Dennison was one of hundreds who visited Dearborn and Grand to decode a massive QR code workers are painting on the side of a building.

"I clocked out of work...so I took off running," she said.

The mural is made up of the acronym TTPD, short for The Tortured Poets Department, the name of Swift's upcoming album.

"This QR code takes you to a YouTube short and if I can just Easter egg out a little bit, I think it's going to be an Easter egg for the new single," Dennison said.

"I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a clue for TTPD," another fan said.

Whatever it is, fans are just happy Chicago Swifties are getting some recognition.

"New York, LA, Nashville, they get a lot of love from Taylor...It's fun to have it be in my home and be able to partake in some of the excitement that other people get to experience way more often," said Jayla Ferrill.
