CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder for a shooting that led to a rollover crash on Chicago's South Side over the weekend.

Chicago police accused the 16-year-old for opening fire into a vehicle and injuring a 40-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman.

As the shooting victims tried to escape, police said their vehicle flipped and crashed into two parked cars near 79th and Wood Streets in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood.

The 16-year-old was arrested and was charged with two counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery, among other charges.

Five people, including a newborn baby, were hospitalized following the crash, Chicago police said.

In addition to the shooting, the teen was also accused of battering a 22-year-old woman.
