A 14-year-old boy is dead and 8 other people are recovering from injuries following two separate shootings in the Loop Friday night. The violence broke out after a crowded and festive tree-lighting festival in Millennium Park.

Mayor Johnson reacting with WBBM Newsradio this morning,
sayings the tragic events leaving a teen boy dead...sets us back as a city, "We put forth measures in place, 700 addition officers, CVI workers out there and yet this thing still got out of control and it was incredibly chaotic.

The Mayor says adjustments may need to be made, "there was a lot of congestion so it made it very difficult for our officers to be able to move about. It's going to take all of us to make sure that we are holding people ultimately accountable and as frustrating, as angering as upsetting as this is, we're talking about a family who received a call that their child is no longer with us."

Johnson spoke with WBBM Newsradio following an unrelated press conference on Chicago's southwest side.
